The series Container Tropes consists of seven clay objects that embody the traces and impact of destruction caused by a natural catastrophe (glacial melting and the triggered rockslide in Blatten/Swiss Alps in 2025) experienced a month later at location. On 17 April 2026, the objects were carried and positioned on hand-cut oak trunks by seven performers. Beginning on 3 May 2026, heavy rainfall and wind initiated the gradual decay of the unfired clay elements. This ongoing process is part of the work and will remain on display until the end of August 2026 at KEIK, Boterdiep 63, Groningen, Netherlands.
The decline has taken significant steps. By May 15th, almost all objects had lost their form and were deteriorating, leaving clay traces on the oak pillars and the concrete floor of the patio. Only the hand, now missing fingers, remains standing so far.
May 28th — none of the forms are recognizable anymore; the clay is slowly dissolving into the ground or mingling with the oak.
By June 5th, the situation had changed completely. All former containers have deteriorated and are now visible only as clay residues blending into the concrete patio floor.
By June 9th, remnants of clay have blended into the oak, creating a subtle brownish patina.
